The Sweeney Family Story
How the Sweeney Family Grew chronicles the remarkable true story of John and Ann Sweeney of Greenwich, Connecticut and their extraordinary commitment to family. The story details the Sweeneys’ growth into a diverse “Patchwork Clan “ of 18 children adopted from an incredibly rich flavorful potion creating one loving family.
Ethnicities include Vietnamese, Colombian, African and many others making race a seamless bound that makes all the family members unique in a Sweeney Martini kind of way.
The patriarch, John Scripps Sweeney III, had an illustrious career as a concert pianist that was tragically cut short by polio. Shortly before the polio vaccine was introduced John lost use of his left hand. The resilient John Sweeney then became a renowned conductor. He met his future wife, Ann Taylor, as a young cellist and the Sweeney family was born.
As the family grew, Ann was the recipient of “Outstanding Mother of the Year “ presented to her by the First Lady Barbara Busch. That is just the beginning of this duo’s achievements.
